PTE speaking practice that actually works
Speaking improves through recorded repetition and honest review, not through reading advice. Ten focused minutes a day, reviewed properly, will move a stuck speaking score faster than hours of passive study.
Record everything, review once
Practising aloud without listening back mostly reinforces the habits you already have. The review is where the improvement happens.
After each attempt, listen once and ask three questions: did I pause or restart, did I keep an even pace, did my volume hold to the final word. That is enough — do not over-analyse.
Drill the two highest-value tasks daily
Read Aloud and Repeat Sentence give the most return per minute, because both feed a second section score and both are pure technique.
Ten minutes split between them, every day, is a better routine than an hour once a week covering everything.
Train yourself not to stop
The single most valuable habit is continuing through a mistake. Deliberately practise it: read a passage, mispronounce something on purpose, and carry on without reacting.
It feels wrong and it is worth real marks, because hesitation damages fluency more than an unclear word does.
Work on clarity, not accent
You are not marked on sounding like a particular nationality. You are marked on whether your sounds are recognisable and your stress lands correctly.
Finish your consonants — especially plural and past-tense endings — and check word stress on longer academic words. Those two habits move pronunciation scores most.
Practise in realistic conditions
In the test room, other candidates are speaking at the same time. If your first experience of that is on exam day it will affect your delivery.
Practise sometimes with background noise and always with a headset, so the setup on the day feels familiar.
Record and score your speaking free
Practise any task and get scored the way the real engine scores you — with the exact words that cost you marks. Free to start, no card needed.
